The Bears are Active!

Bear activity in the Town of Eagle and wider Eagle County is high this summer. Colorado Parks and Wildlife says the mild and dry winter in the high country left fewer natural food sources available, pushing bears into populated areas earlier than usual.

Key Tips for Reducing Bear Attractants:

•  Keep all trash cans within an enclosed structure. Even "bear-proof" trash cans can be an attractant.

•  Put trash out only on pickup day and bring containers back inside the same evening.

•  Don’t leave food outside. Bring in pet food, bird feeders, and coolers—especially overnight.

•  Secure garages and vehicles.

•  Keep outdoor spaces clean. Regularly check yards for anything with a smell.
